Course variations

Course summary

The course is both rigorous and practical, with an emphasis on applications and real world financial management. It will give students the theoretical knowledge and tools of business finance that are demanded by employers in all sections of the world economy. Mathematics, economics, statistics and accounting are all important foundations of finance and those who are good at mathematics are often also good at finance. Not all finance, however, is mathematical, and many people who work successfully in the field are not highly trained or proficient in mathematics. The programme is specially designed with the objective of giving students with GCE ‘O’ levels or equivalent a head start to an undergraduate degree programme. It is jointly taught by both University of Wollongong faculty and local lecturers.

Entry requirement for international students

Students from India should have obtained Secondary School Certificate (Standard X) with minimum average grade of 60 per cent. Students from other countries should have specific academic qualifications equivalent to Singapore standards. Students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate the English proficiency by obtaining an IELTS academic score of 6.0 (6.0 in reading and writing and 5.0 in listening and speaking); internet-based TOEFL test score of 79 with 20 in reading, 18 in writing, 17 in listening and 16 in speaking; paper-based TOEFL test score of 550 with a Test of Written English (TWE) of 4.0; computer-based TOEFL test score of 213 with a Test of Written English (TWE) of 4.0.
