Course summary
In this program, student will study a core program that provides them with the essential skills required for a professional IT career. The core program study of information technology includes: the design and use of computer systems and networks. Some of the concepts studied include: programming (C, C++, Java), internet working; multimedia; databases; computing data structures, software engineering, computer graphics, GIS, web technologies, animation, system architecture, computer networks, data communications, network administration, ICT projects, project management and ethics. It bridges both pure computer science and IT application areas. They will study a core program that provides them with the essential skills required for a professional IT career. Quality IT graduates will find high-tech careers in areas such as internet/web development, network/communication technology, programming, analyst programming, systems designer, database management, data communications, multimedia game developers, web content developers and many more. The range of jobs varies considerably as does the range of employment fields from education, the military, gaming and finance to name just a few.

The modules are as follows: Introduction to Programming I; Introduction to Programming II; Conceptual Modelling; Statistics and data analysis; IT fundamentals; Software engineering; Web programming; Hardware and Software fundamentals; Advanced programming; Networking; Human computer interaction; Information security; Project management I; Project management II; Knowledge discovery and data mining.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants should have completed 12 years of schooling or equivalent. Successful completion of James Cook University Singapore foundation program will also satisfy the entrance requirement. There are different entry requirements from country to country. They must have IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5)/ TOFEL 550 (with a minimum written English text score of 4.0) and above; or satisfactory completion of the James Cook University English Language Preparatory Program (ELPP). Students who have successfully completed two years of full-time study in English medium may satisfy the English language requirement.
