Course summary
This programme is developed for line trainers who have no formal academic background in electronics to acquire a basic knowledge of electronics on principles of digital technology and microprocessors. It provides the opportunity for them to upgrade to a higher level of skills and knowledge of electronics so as to carry out their work competently and to meet the challenges posed by technological advancement. Upon completion of the course, the participants will acquire an elementary level of competence in Basic Electronics and be able to diagnose simple faults and carry out repairs on electronic equipment. A Certificate of Proficiency will be awarded to trainees upon passing the theory test. Otherwise, a Certificate of Participation will be issued to trainees who attained a minimum attendance of 75 per cent.
Program modules
The modules are as follows: Units of Volt, Current and Resistance, Ohm's Law/Parallel Law, Series and Parallel Circuits, Introduction to Capacitors/Inductors, Usage of General Test Equipment, Introduction to Solid State Devices, Number Systems and Codes, Digital Electronics, Concept of Electronic Discharge, Soldering/Desoldering Skills and Theory Examination.

Electronics Industries Training Centre (ELITC) is a non-profit, charitable organisation, set up in 1986 by a group of leading electronics multi-national companies in Singapore. Over the years it has grown into a body representing the HRD needs of the electronics and supporting industries. Workers in the knowledge-based and changing economy require better education and new skills. ELITC works closely with the industry and various government agencies to provide opportunities to upgrade and re-skill some sectors of the electronics-manufacturing workforce to meet this structural change. In the years to come, ELITC will continue to make training courses relevant for the needs of the industry. ELITC is licensed by Institute of Technical Education Services Pte Ltd (ITEES) to conduct National ITE Certificate (Nitec) in Electronics (Computer and Networking) course. Nitec in Electronics is offered through e-Learning mode for the theory lessons, which provides more flexibility for the trainees. Both full time and part-time training in Nitec are offered to foreign students and to the local workforce, respectively. The Management Committee sets policies and directions. Members elected to the Management Committee are representatives from member companies. There are nineteen companies who are the Founder Members. These companies, mostly multi-national corporations, contributed with funds towards the setting up of the Centre during the first five years of operation. There are eight companies who are the ordinary members.
