Course summary

This programme constitutes the basis of a high level of technical ability, knowledge and conceptual understanding in the field of Accounting and Finance. It also provides a range of contexts and enables students to appreciate the importance of political, ethical, legal and social environment, accounting profession, business entity, capital markets and the public sector, and covers current technical language and practices of accounting, including alternative rules and approaches applicable to specific circumstances. The degree course covers the areas of accounting, auditing, economics, finance, IT and business. Students will develop a wide range of intellectual and analytical abilities relevant to business and management including the ability to think critically and independently. They will gain a range of opportunities to develop the attitudes, skills and abilities necessary to work in an international business environment and to develop an awareness and appreciation of different ethical values. Students will also develop the transferable skills necessary for students' personal development as life-long independent learners and for their ability to respond positively to change during their careers in business and management. They may apply for exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants on successfully completing the course. Graduates can find career as a chartered accountant, a chartered certified accountant, chartered public finance accountant or a chartered management accountant. They can pursue for minimum period of one - four years.

Program modules

The modules are as follows for: Year 1 covers Economics for Business and Management, Introduction to Accounting and Finance, International Business Law, Personal Development and Careers, Introduction to People, Organisations and Management; Analysis of Business, Accounting for Business. Year 2 covers International Business, Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Management, Financial Tools for Planning and Decision Making, Accounting for Control and Performance Management, Financial Reporting, Auditing, Effective Team and Performance Management. Year 3 covers Advanced Financial Reporting, Strategic Management Analysis, Sustainable Management Futures, Organisational Transformation in Practice, Financial Management, Undergraduate Major Project.

Entry requirement for international students

Applicant for (Option 1) Advanced standing entry into Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) final year degree offered at FTMSGlobal Academy should have successfully completed the Higher Diploma in Accounting and Finance awarded by FTMSGlobal Academy or equivalent. Those for (Option 2) entry route into the 3-year ARU degree programme offered at FTMSGlobal Academy must be at least 17 years old and obtain at least two subjects at GCE 'A' level and at least three further subjects at GCSE or GCE 'O' level; or should have successfully completed the Foundation in Business Studies course awarded by FTMSGlobal Academy or equivalent. They are also expected to provide evidence of a level of English ability at least equivalent to 5.5 of the International English Language Standards (IELTS) achieved within past 24 months or a pass in FTMSGlobal English programme at Intermediate level 2 stage.
