Course summary

This programme aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the operational aspects of the international hotel industry, and knowledge of the underlying principles involved. It enable students to gain an understanding of the workings of the hospitality industry and inter-departmental relationships with the underpinning knowledge required to work in the hospitality sector. It also prepares students for entry into continuing higher education in hotel management. Upon graduation students can progress to the Higher Diploma in Hotel Management or exit the programme. All students on Diploma programme are eligible for Affiliate Membership of the Institute of Hospitality therefore; they stand a better chance to get employment opportunities.

The modules include Food and Beverage Operations; Food Hygiene, Health and Safety; Front Office Operations; Housekeeping and Accommodation Operations; Finance for Hospitality and Tourism; Business Operations in Hospitality and Tourism; Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism; The Tourism Industry; Business Computing; The Global Hospitality Industry.

Entry requirement for international students

Applicants must be minimum 18 years of age and should have completed 'O' / 'A' level qualification (International Students) or equivalent. They are also expected to provide evidence of a level of English ability at least equivalent to 5.5 of the International English Language Testing Standards (IELTS) achieved within past 24 months or a pass in FTMSGlobal English Programme at Intermediate Level 2 stage.
