Course summary
In this programme, students will learn to conceptualise various types of exhibition space through projects such as merchandise displays, promotional booths, retail showrooms and museums, and develop innovative display solutions and experiences for commercial and communication purposes. Essential theories and principles relating to branding, marketing communication, fabrication process and project management are complemented with other core subjects. Graduates of the programme may find careers as an environmental Designer, Urban Planning Assistant, Landscape Designer, Technical Designer, Furniture Designer, Exhibition Designer, Event Planner, Model Maker, Product Designer, Interior Designer, Stage or Theatre Designer, Teacher, Project Co-ordinator, Visual Merchandiser, Writer for Design Magazine, Jewellery Designer, Enamellist, Gemologist, Silversmith, Goldsmith, Lapidary (Gemcutting), Casting Specialist, Mold-maker, 3D Visualiser.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants are required to pass in the admission test/audition. The general requirement is Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level with at least four grade-C6 or better grade subjects, excluding English language, or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or Certificate, or relevant Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Nitec qualifications with GPA 2.5 and above may apply. ITE graduates from the following courses are eligible to apply for module exemption: Nitec in Product Design; Nitec in Facility Technology (Landscaping); Nitec in Building Drafting (Civil and Structure); Nitec in Space Design (Architecture); Nitec in Space Design (Interior and Exhibition); Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising; Nitec in Visual Communication; Nitec in Interactive Media Design; Nitec in Visual Effects. Apart from the above general requirements International applicants from India should have obtained Secondary School Certificate (Year 10), including a passing grade of 50 and above for English from The Central Board of Secondary Education Examinations (CBSE). Applicants from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Singapore. Also they should demonstrate their English language proficiency with Grade C6 or better in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level English Language, or TOEFL score of 500 or better, or IELTS Band 5 or higher, or a pass in NAFA English Admission Test, or qualifications equivalent to any of the above.
