Course summary

This program is a professional degree program offered jointly by the Kingston University of London and Air Transport Training College (ATTC), the professional development centre of the Singapore Institute of Aerospace Engineers (SIAE). Kingston has worked with KLM UK Engineering Ltd in the design and delivery of this Foundation degree in Aircraft Engineering. It is an industry-based, vocational qualification designed for people who want to get a practical start to their career. Successful Graduates from this FdEng will have the option to proceed to a third year at Kingston University towards a BSc(Hons) in Aircraft Engineering. This is a two year full-time degree programme designed to cover the basic knowledge requirements for the SAR Part 66 Cat B 1.1 license and the FdEng requirements of Kingston University London. Successful Graduates from this FdEng will have the option to proceed to a 3rd year at Kingston University towards a BSc (Hons) in Aircraft Engineering. Under the PCP, job seekers who are successful in interviews with the participating companies will be sponsored to undergo the two-year full-time training in the FdEng programme at Air Transport Training College (ATTC). Trainees will be equipped with technical knowledge and relevant skills required in the aviation industry.

Program modules

Modules include the following: Technology Mathematics 1, Engineering and Aviation Science, Electrical Engineering A, Human Factors and Safety Management Systems, Aviation Legislation, Materials and Hardware, Maintenance Practices A and B, Workshop and Hangar Practice (work-based module), Electrical Engineering B, Aerodynamics, Aircraft Electronic Techniques and Digital Systems (double module), Aeroplane Propulsion Systems (double module), Aircraft Hangar Training (work-based double module), Turbine Aeroplane Aerodynamics, Structures and Systems (work-based FdEng module).

Entry requirement for international students

Applicants should have 2 GCE ‘A’ Levels or equivalent in mathematics and suitable science subject as required OR a Diploma in Engineering. They should be at least 18 years old on 1st September during the first year of the course. Overseas students require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
