Course summary
This programme is designed to prepare social workers aspiring to take up leadership positions in the social service sector by equipping graduates with clinical social work skills, administration skills and supervision skills to function at management positions in the sector. It is designed to cater for both graduates with a social work degree and those with other degrees. For graduates without prior social work training, bridging courses will first equip them with the basic social work knowledge and skills so as to ease them into the masters programme. Graduates from the masters programme (including graduate diploma route) will be recognized social work professionals with administrative and supervisory abilities as well as domain specialists, as accepted by the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW) and the main employers of social workers namely the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the National Council of Social Services (NCSS).

The modules include Social Work Practice I: Casework and Family Work, Social Work Practice II: Group work and Community Work, Social Welfare Policy and Delivery Systems, Human Lifespan and Social Ecology, Social Policy Analysis and Development, Social Administration and Planning, Theories and Principles of Supervision for Social Work, Social Research and Programme Evaluation, Contemporary Social work Issues and Practice, Advanced Clinical Practice I: Working with Individuals, , Advanced Clinical Practice II: Family Intervention, Addiction I: Substance, , Addiction II: Behaviour, Theory and Practice of Gerontological Social Work, Professional and Personal Development and Resilience, Special Topics in Social Work, Theory and Practice of Youth work, International Social Welfare, Independent Study in Social Welfare, Thesis or two elective.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants should be 21 years and above with a high level of motivation. They should have an undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution with at least two years of work experience. Also they are expected to have good communication skills both in written and spoken mode.
