Course summary
This course provides students with the skills and knowledge in frontline banking and financial services to individuals and organisations. Students will acquire knowledge and skills gained which are highly relevant to the industry. They will learn to handle oral and written communication in a business/workplace environment, provide quality customer service, process various types of frontline banking transactions, handle cash and cash balancing, process non-cash transactions, handle various banking and financial instruments, perform basic accounting and suggest various banking products and services to customers. Graduates are employed by both local and foreign banks, insurance companies and various financial services institutions. Some of the job titles held by graduates include customer service representative, bank officer and special grade clerk. There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

Entry requirement for international students
Students must have GCE 'O' level grades (Grade 1 - 7) in English language, mathematics (elementary or additional) or principles of accounts and one other subject or they should have GCE 'N(A)' level passes in English language, mathematics and three other subjects with grades 1-3 in English language, grade 1-4 in mathematics and grade 1-5 in three other subjects with a total of 19 points or less for English, mathematics and three other subjects (ELMAB3). GCE N(A) school leavers who applied during the January intake under the Direct Entry Scheme will undergo 10 weeks of preparatory programme followed by two years of Higher Nitec training.
