Course summary
This course will teach students to organize events including liaising with suppliers and customers, coordinating event logistical work flows and managing on-site operations during events. They will acquire knowledge and skills gained which are highly relevant to the industry. Students will learn to handle oral and written communication in a business/workplace environment, process information using application software, provide quality customer service, handle sales and marketing, organize event including liaising with suppliers and customers and coordinating event logistical work flow and manage on-site operations during an event. Graduates are employed by Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs), Professional Exhibition Organisers (PEOs), Destination Management Companies (DMCs), venue operators and hotels as well as other private and public sector organisations and associations responsible for organising and managing seminars, meetings and conferences. Some of the job titles held by graduates include conference organiser, events coordinator and project coordinator. There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed GCE 'O' level grades in English language, mathematics and one other subject with grades 1 - 6 in English language, grade 1 - 8 in mathematics (elementary or additional) or principles of accounts and grade 1 - 7 in one other subject; or they should have passed the GCE 'N(A)' level passes in English language, mathematics and three other subjects with grades 1-3 in English language, grade 1-4 in mathematics and grade 1-5 in three other subjects with a total of 19 points or less for English, mathematics and three other subjects (ELMAB3). GCE N(A) school leavers, who applied during the January intake under the Direct Entry Scheme, will undergo 10 weeks of preparatory programme followed by two years of Higher Nitec training.
