Course summary
In this course students will learn to apply quality management practices, conduct manual and automated functional tests, performance tests and security tests on software to help organizations realize their communications needs. They will acquire knowledge and skills gained which are highly relevant to the industry: apply software delivery and quality management practices, conduct manual and automated software functional test, conduct software performance test, conduct software security test. Graduates are employed by both private and public organizations to support software systems development. Some of the job titles held by the graduates include: system tester, test specialist, quality assurance analyst and application support analyst. There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

The courses are as follows: Fundamentals of Software Development Life Cycle 7, Software Functional Testing I 7, Software Functional Testing II 7, Software Performance Testing 7, Software Security Testing 7, Software Configuration Management 7, Enterprise Software Testing 7, Industry Attachment 4, Life Skills at the Workplace 4, Life Skills for Personal Development 8, Sports and Wellness I 1, Sports and Wellness II 1, Entrepreneurship 4 and Overseas Experiential Programme 2 or 3.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed GCE 'O' level grades in English language, mathematics and one other subject with grades 1 - 8 in English language, grade 1 - 7 in mathematics (elementary or additional) and grade 1 - 8 in one other subject or they should have passed the GCE 'N(A)' level passes in English language, mathematics and three other subjects with grades 1-3 in English language, grade 1-4 in mathematics and grade 1-5 in three other subjects with a total of 19 points or less for English, Mathematics and three other subjects. GCE N(A) school leavers who applied during the January intake under the Direct Entry Scheme will undergo 10 weeks of preparatory programme followed by two years of Higher Nitec training.
