Course summary
This programme offers a prescribed curriculum to all students in first semester. During the second semester, writers choose a specialty area and enrol in an intense workshop and lab focusing exclusively on playwriting. Writers devote much of the rest of their course of study to their chosen concentration, as well as being cross-trained in other areas of writing.
Program modules
The modules covered are: Film Story Analysis (Text Analysis Film I); Forms of Drama (Text Analysis Theater I); Graduate Playwriting Workshop I; Graduate Screenwriting Workshop I; Writer's Drama Lab. Choice of an additional writing workshop covers: Graduate Screenwriting Workshop II; Television Writing: Intro to 1/2 Hour Comedy. In addition to choice of workshop covers: Elective; Film Script Analysis II; Forms of Drama II; Graduate Playwriting Workshop II; Writer's Drama Lab. Elective Genres: Theatre; Independent Study; Intro to One Hour Drama (Television Writing); MFA Thesis I: Playwriting; Advanced Production Workshop; Advanced Television; Graduate Seminar in Close Analysis; Independent Study; MFA Thesis Course II: Playwriting; Professional Colloquium.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must have an accredited baccalaureate degree. They must also demonstrate their English Language Proficiency with scores in TOEFL or IELTS.
