Course summary

This programme provides the necessary skills in designing systems, embedded software and semiconductor devices for telecommunications, control, medical applications and consumer products. This programme is mainly focused on Wireless Systems specialisation.

The modules are as follows: TD5101 Specification of Complex Hardware/Software Systems, TD5102 Embedded Systems in Silicon, TD5104 DSP Algorithms: Design and Implementation, EE5903 Real-time Systems, TD6109 Embedded Systems Project (equivalent to 2 graduate modules), TD5341 Professional Development (2 modular credits), specialisation modules include: EE5401 Cellular Mobile Communications, TD5113B Digital Radio Systems, EE5402 RF Circuit Design I, EE5404 Satellite Communications, EE5406 Wireless Network Protocols, EE5407 Adaptive Spatial Based Wireless Systems, EE5408 Mobile Computing, EE6902 Computer Communication Networks, TD5114B Communication Networks, CS5231 Cryptographic Techniques and Data Security, TD5119B Signal Processing for Data Hiding.

Entry requirement for international students

Students should have obtained good bachelor's degree with honours in engineering/science or its equivalent and preferably with relevant working experience. Students with prior master’s degree are encouraged to apply as the MTD is considered as a post-master degree programme. International Students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate the English proficiency by obtaining good IELTS score of 6.0, GRE score of 1800, GATE score of 85 per cent, TOEFL scores of 580 in paper based and 237 in computer based.
