Course summary
This program provides students with enhanced human resource management skills and a superior understanding of an organisation as a whole. It will help strengthen the awareness of how strategic human resource management skills and leadership can impact the workplace and ability to interpret an organisation’s strategic needs. It is suitable for career-oriented professionals seeking to enhance their management potential. The subjects covered provide managers with an international perspective on business and management, essential in an increasingly globalised economy. It has a strong focus on international case studies; development of presentation skills; teamwork; practical teaching methodologies which develop a holistic view of business; major emphasis on in-class student participation and group discussions. Graduates can pursue a wide variety of managerial or executive careers in both the private, public and government sectors of the global economy. It is recognised as the premier management and business administration qualification. It has global currency, and provides its holders with a distinct advantage in both national and international labour markets. They can pursue a wide variety of career opportunities, particularly for management and leadership positions in human resources.

The core subjects include Current Business Issues; Strategy and Leadership; Financial Foundations for Managers; Managing Business in a Global Context; Community Project or Business Plan; outer core subject includes Advance E Security; Economics for Managers; Sustainable Enterprise; Major includes People in Organisations; International Human Resource Management; Contemporary Issues in Human Resource Management; Employment Relations.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must have successful completion of study equivalent to an Australian undergraduate bachelor award. Students who do not meet the entry requirements for the MBA program may need to complete four bridging subjects (PQP) usually taken over four months. They must have obtained IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5)/ TOFEL 550 (with a minimum written English text score of 4.0) and above; or satisfactory completion of the James Cook University English Language Preparatory Program (ELPP); or successfully completion of two years of full-time study in English medium may satisfy the English language requirement.
