Course summary

This program is most appropriate for students who are committed to intensive research-oriented careers, combining biomedical research with the practice of clinical medicine. It allows students to obtain a concentration in one of the five Duke-NUS Signature Research Program areas cancer and stem cell biology, neuroscience and behavioral disorders, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, emerging infectious diseases, health services and systems research. Opportunities also exist for selected students to do the PhD component at Duke University in the US or at NUS in Singapore in one of their many PhD programs. All MD/PhD candidates will complete the first two years of the MD program. In the third year, candidates will begin the PhD program.

Entry requirement for international students

Students must have at least a bachelor’s degree and higher post-graduate qualifications such as Masters, PhD. They must have MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) results and applicants whose medium of instruction during undergraduate studies was not in English must have TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 600 on the paper test or 213 on the computer-administered test or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with an overall band score of 7.
