Course summary
This programme provides students with a solid grounding in economic theory, as well as the analytical and statistical tools needed to conduct high-quality theoretical and empirical research. It is conducted jointly with the University of Cergy-Pontoise (Paris), one of the leading French universities in Economics and Finance, which allows for a wide range of courses/seminars as well as research facilities, varied experiences, and supervision for students. In this concentration, students may specialize in three main areas: industrial organization, international economics (with micro or macro emphasis) and public economics.

The courses are Introduction to Finance and Portfolio Theory (20 hours), Mathematics for Economics and Finance (20 hours), Microeconomics (30 hours), Advanced Microeconomics for Economics and Finance (27 hours), Econometrics for Economics and Finance (27 hours), Macroeconomics (27 hours), Applied Statistics (30 hours), Game Theory (27 hours), Advanced Micro-Econometrics (27 hours), Time Series Analysis in Economics (27 hours), Advanced Macroeconomics (27 hours), Advanced Microeconomics (27 hours), Research Seminar 1: Professor Seminar (27 hours), Research Seminar 2: Student Seminar (27 hours), Reading Seminar on Specialized Subjects (30 hours), and five electives from Economics of Information, Corporate Governance, Numerical Methods, Monetary Economics, Environmental Economics, Economics of Education, Health Economics.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants should have an outstanding (four year) bachelor's degree (BA, BSc or equivalent) or higher qualification (a master's degree would be an asset). French students can apply with "Bac +4" or more and European students with a Master in Research (MRes). Successful applicants would gain exemption from certain courses/seminars and depending on their background, would follow a sequence of courses/seminars covering approximately one year instead of two. Admission to the programme is open to top students from business and economics schools, but also from fields such as engineering, hard sciences, psychology, sociology, philosophy, etc. They should have GMAT or GRE scores and TOEFL scores.
