Course summary
This course has been designed to meet the needs of the architectural visualization industry and to enable participants to develop into innovative and creative designers who can represent complex architectural structures in a visually appealing way using 3D environments. Students acquire the skills they need to take an innovative approach to architectural and structural visualization. They will be using CGI tools such as 3D Max studio to develop techniques in visualization and gain a thorough understanding of the aesthetic, perceptual and technical factors involved in this exciting and demanding area. Year 1 units include the following: project 1, 3D modelling 1, 3D animation techniques 1, production editing & technical design, lighting & material applications, and graphical communication. Year 2 units cover project 2, post production processes, lighting and material applications 2, environmental design, and architectural modelling. Students who successfully complete this course with the appropriate level of qualification can progress onto the BSc Honours Top-up degree. This normally consists of a one year work placement followed by a fourth final year.
Entry requirement for international students
IELTS Statement - If English is not your first language, a minimum of IELTS (Academic) 6.0, or TOEFL 550 (paper based), or TOEFL 80 (internet based) is normally required. A telephone interview may also be necessary.
