Course summary

This multi-dimensional degree puts a special emphasis on developing design and making skills in glass, metals and ceramics and encourages integration with other materials and processes. Workshops in visual studies, photography, digital imaging and IT enable you to develop your presentation skills and a professional portfolio ready for a career in the creative industries. A unique aspect of the course is the chance to establish your first professional contacts through work-based learning. This is achieved through client-led and self-initiated assignments including external competitions and ?live? briefs. This may involve working alongside other creative professionals, undertaking projects in the community, or through placement in studios, galleries or museums. Year 1 units cover: contextual studies, visual studies, technical exploration, making methodologies and design projec. Year 2 units include: specialist material processes, design and presentation and professional practice and a specialist project. On successful completion, participants can progress to BA (Hons) or to employment opportunities within the creative industries.

Entry requirement for international students

IELTS Statement - If English is not your first language, a minimum of IELTS (Academic) 6.0, or TOEFL 550 (paper based), or TOEFL 80 (internet based) is normally required. A telephone interview may also be necessary.
