Course summary
This course is intended to enable students to progress on to a B.A. (Hons) Degree or Foundation Degree courses in a wide range of art, craft and design specialisms. The structure of the programme enables students to make a valid and informed choice of specialist for progression. The Foundation Diploma in Art and Design course comprises of nine units which are information and research, recording and responding, media experimentation, information and interpretation, personal experimental studies, extended media development in art and design, preparation and progression, integrating theory and practice and personal confirmatory study. Students will learn about drawing and painting, fashion design, 3D spatial design, photography, graphic design, health and safety, the work of other artists, designers and drafts people. This course includes opportunities for key skills in information technology, literacy and application of number.
