Course summary
This program emphasizes the perspective, concepts, theories and methodologies of the disciplines typically found in the vast variety of disciplines that comprise study in the social and behavioral sciences. Students will study about themselves and others as members of a larger society. Topics and discussion to stimulate critical thinking about ways people have acted in response to their societies will allow students to evaluate how societies and social subgroups operate.
Entry requirement for international students
Admission to this college is opened for applicants possessing a high school diploma or the equivalent or any individual who is at least 18 years of age and capable of profiting from the instruction. International students with a TOEFL score of less than 475 paper-based, 153 computer-based, or 53 internet-based are required to take the Allan Hancock College English as a Second Language (ESL) assessment test for placement into the appropriate ESL classes before registering for classes. And those who with a score of 475 paper-based (153 computer-based) or higher on the TOEFL are required to take the Allan Hancock College START test for English placement.
