This department is housed within the College of Science and Liberal Arts (CSLA) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Biology professors do research in various areas, including neural networks, neuro-immunology, waves and diffusion of ions in the brain, population modeling of the Cape Seaside sparrow and the spatio-temporal dynamics of wading birds in Everglades National Park. Students who want to fuse biology with other subjects will be happy to know that biology professors collaborate with professors from other departments, such as Mathematics and Chemistry. The department encourages the students to cross-fertilize their interests by conducting inter-disciplinary research.
