Course summary
This curriculum is designed to prepare a student for a career as a paraprofessional in the K-6 classroom. Field experiences include observation and participation in a K-6 public school setting. Lesson planning and classroom management are included in the field experiences. A semester-long field experience is the culminating requirement of the paraprofessional program. Knowledge of child development and behavior as well as the refinement of skills in working with children are basic to the program.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have a high school grade point average of 2.5 or above based on a 4.0 scale and an ACT composite score of 18 or above, or SAT Critical Reading + Math score of 860 or above. Students graduating from high school must have a regular diploma or higher. Freshman admission requirements include graduation with a least 15 units of credit from an approved secondary school. It is recommended that for the best preparation for college, secondary school credits should include English-4 units, Mathematics-2 units, Foreign Language-2 units, Natural Science-1 unit and Social Science-2 units. International students must show evidence of ability to understand and use English sufficiently well to succeed in their work at Trevecca. A minimum TOEFL score of 500 is required on the paperbased test; or 173 is required on the computerbased test; or 61 is required on the Internet-based test.
