Course summary

This program prepares students for positions in park management, community forestry, and the urban tree service industry. They learn about the principles and practices of tree planting, mechanical injuries to trees, identification and control of tree insect pests, fertilizing, pruning, repair of storm- or otherwise damaged trees, removal of dead or undesirable trees, and administration of recreational land. The Massachusetts Arborists, the Massachusetts Tree Wardens, and the National Arborist associations have all approved this educational program.

Entry requirement for international students

Students should have certain minimum high school unit requirements such as four years of English, three years of college preparatory mathematics (algebra II is a minimum requirement), two years of the same foreign language, three years of science (including two with a laboratory component), two years of social science including one course in U.S. history, and two electives from the above areas, arts and humanities, or computer science. In addition to this, international students should have obtained a TOEFL score of 213 or higher on computer-based, 80 or higher on internet-based; or an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher. Non-native speakers with a SAT-I verbal score of 400 or higher do not need to take the TOEFL or IELTS.
