Course summary
Social work is a profession for those with a strong desire to help improve people’s lives. Social workers help people function the best way they can in their environment, by teaching them life skills or linking them to appropriate resources. They may help people who face a life-threatening disease or serious chronic illness or disability. They often provide social services in health-related settings that now are governed by managed care organizations.
