Course summary
The mission of this program is to prepare qualified entry-level athletic trainers for the athletic training profession. Coursework and clinical components are blended to develop knowledge and skills in risk management and injury prevention; pathology of injuries and illnesses; assessment and evaluation; acute care of injury and illness; pharmacology; therapeutic modalities; therapeutic exercise; general medical conditions and disabilities; nutritional aspects of injury and illness; psychosocial intervention and referral; health care administration; and professional development and responsibilities. Athletic Training employment settings include sports medicine clinics, high schools (including teaching), colleges or universities, industrial settings and professional sports. The instructional and clinical staff continually strives to improve its education through seminars, conferences, and research.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must have at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale and must have completed a minimum of 12 years of primary and secondary school, undertaking a university-preparatory curriculum. Departments may set a higher requirement than a score of 550/79 (TOEFL) or 6.5 (IELTS) for their majors.
