Course summary
This program is required to have (1) a general knowledge of the monuments and principal artists of all major historical periods, (2) one or more advanced areas of concentration (e.g. Renaissance, Contemporary, or Non-Western) within the history of art, (3) a solid foundation in art historical theory, analysis, and criticism, and (4) a functional knowledge of the creative process gained through participation in one or more studio courses.

ART APPRECIATION, ART OF THE WESTERN WORLD I: GREECE THROUGH RENAISSANCE, ART OF THE WESTERN WORLD II: BAROQUE TO MODERN, THE ART OF NONWESTERN TRADITIONS, METHODS FOR THE STUDY OF ART HISTORY, ART OF ANTIQUITY, JAPANESE ART AND ARCHITECTURE, BYZANTINE AND MEDIEVAL ART, THE EARLY RENAISSANCE, HIGH RENAISSANCE, FILM AS ART, AMERICAN ART, NEO-CLASSICISM AND ROMANTICISM, BACKGROUNDS OF MODERN ART, MODERN ART, IMPRESSIONISM, ANCIENT EGYPTIAN AND NEAR EASTERN ART AND ARCHAEOLOGY.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have completed official secondary school (high school) transcripts, diplomas, certificates, and/or national test examination scores as appropriate for the educational system in their country. Students must possess the equivalent of a U.S. high school graduation based upon a combined elementary and secondary pattern of twelve years with a better than average academic record.
