Course summary
The objective of the program is to provide a basic knowledge of economic analysis for the student intending to do undergraduate work in preparation for a professional career in business or government; to serve as the core of a liberal arts program for students planning to enter business or industry directly upon graduation. It also provides courses preparing students for graduate work in economics; and to present courses that offer insight into the economic problems of the day.
Program modules
Modules include: Ec 201 (Micro), 202 (Macro), Principles of Economics; Ec 473 Macroeconomic Theory; Ec 474 Microeconomic Theory; Ec 469, 456, 457, 460 (any one course); 24 credit hours from Ec 101 Contemporary Economics; Ec 314 Private/Pub Inv Analysis; Ec 315 Economics of Sports; Ec 446 Institutional Economics; Ec 419 Econ Race and Ethnicity; Ec 426 Econ of Regulation; Ec 431 Urban Economics; Ec 437 Public Utility Econ; Ec 480 Mathematical Economics.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicant must have completed high school or secondary school with a cumulative (overall) grade point average (G.P.A.) of at least 3.0 (when converted to the U.S. 4.0 grading scale). They are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores; however, a low GPA can be offset by an SAT score of 1000 or ACT score of 21. Applicants may demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting the following test results: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores for Paper-based test (PBT) 525, Computer-based test (CBT) 197, or Internet-based test (IBT) with minimum sub scores of 16 for reading and listening, and 14 for speaking and writing or IELTS scores of 6.5 overall and minimum 6.0 in each band.
