Course summary
This program concentration focuses on developing advanced studio skills, art history content, technology applications, preparation in liberal studies, and art pedagogy. Students enrolled in the Art Education program take courses in Studio Art, Art History, and Art Education as well as courses in the School of Education. During the first two years, students concentrate on liberal education, art history, and studio requirements. The junior and senior years are spent meeting Art Education and Teacher Education requirements. Students observe teachers in the public schools during practicum courses in the junior year and student teach the last semester of their senior year.

The courses are:360 Foundations of Art Education I, 361 Foundations of Art Education II , 363 Curriculum and Teaching Methods in the Elementary School, 365 Curriculum and Teaching Methods in the Secondary School , 367 Child Art and Teaching, 463 Student Teaching in the Elementary School, 465 Student Teaching in the Secondary School, 468 Teaching Practice and Curriculum in Art.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must complete the equivalent of a U.S. academic high school diploma. They should have TOEFL Paper-Based score of 550, Computer Based score of 213, or Internet Based score of 79 or 6.5 overall score for IELTS or SAT verbal 400.
