Course summary

Students have the opportunity to learn ceramics in a program that is known nationally and internationally for the quality instruction and artwork produced in that area. The excellent ceramics facility is home to one of the three Tozan wood kiln sites in the world. Students will be exposed to all ceramic techniques and firing processes and interact regularly with artists from around the world through a visiting artists program.

Program modules

The courses are: ART 135, 136, 150, and 151 (12 units),12 units of art history courses, ARE 330W, which meets NAU’s junior writing requirement (3 units),21 units in ceramics: ART 161, 261, 263, 361, 362, 363,and 461,ART 262 (9 units),ART 462C, which meets NAU’s senior capstone requirement (3 units),ART 171, 181, 222, and 235 (12 units),ART 141, 142, 241, or 242 (3 units)ART 135, 136, 150, and 151 (12 units),12 units of art history courses, ARE 330W, which meets NAU’s junior writing requirement (3 units),21 units in ceramics: ART 161, 261, 263, 361, 362, 363, and 461,ART 262 (9 units),ART 462C, which meets NAU’s senior capstone requirement (3 units),ART 171, 181, 222, and 235 (12 units),ART 141, 142, 241, or 242 (3 units).

Entry requirement for international students

The Candidates to be admitted to Northern Arizona University must meet the general requirements described below: Evidence of Academic Achievement: Students must have completed secondary school, and official school documents - transcripts or mark sheets - must reflect academic success. Students academic record must show at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) or equivalent to be admissible to Northern Arizona University. English Language Proficiency: If English is not students first or native language, they must demonstrate English-language proficiency. This can be done in one of the following ways: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 70 on the new Internet-based TOEFL (iBT), 193 on the computer-based TOEFL (CBT), or 525 on the paper-based test (PBT) taken within the past 2 years. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of band 6.0 or better. ACT (English sub-score of 21 is required) or SAT (verbal score of 510 is required).Scores must be received from the testing organization (copies are not acceptable); Evidence of Financial Support and Financial Guarantee; Complete Application Packet.
