Course summary
The acting instruction at UMD is founded on one basic goal: to discover and develop the natural actor in each student and to maximize the actor's potential as a creative artist. The rigorous and demanding curriculum seeks to unlock the intuitive human potential for performance, and to combine that potential with a powerful yet flexible repertoire of technical skills. Students are encouraged to develop their proficiency in many styles ranging from classical to modern and contemporary theatre, as well as musical theatre and acting for the camera. In addition, special attention is paid to the development of specific career skills which prepare the student actor for graduate-level professional training and entry-level professional theatre.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed high school diploma or a GED. In addition, the individual has attempted fewer than 26 semester (39 quarter) credits at a post-secondary institution.
