Course summary
The B.A. program is suitable for pre-medicine or pre-law students, or for students planning to teach earth science in secondary school. It is not intended for prospective geologists, but for liberal arts students who wish to concentrate in geology. B.A. students will acquire a solid foundation in the Earth and Environmental Sciences through classroom instruction, laboratory and field work, and will be provided with opportunities for undergraduate research. The B.A. degree requires slightly fewer credit hours than the B.S. degree to allow students sufficient flexibility for electives outside the major to pursue a double major or to complete courses required to continue in law, medicine or education. The degree will prepare them for employment in industry or government, or to pursue a professional degree. Students intending graduate studies in the geosciences are encouraged to complete a B.S.
Program modules
The courses includes - GEOLOGY 1001 Introductory Geology, GEOLOGY 1005 Evolution, GEOLOGY 1015 Environmental Resources, GEOLOGY 1021 Catastrophic Geology, GEOLOGY 2001 Physical Geology, GEOLOGY 2011 Mineralogy I, GEOLOGY 2012 Mineralogy II, GEOLOGY 2015 Climate Change: Oceans To Atmosphere, GEOLOGY 2021 Facies Models, GEOLOGY 2022 Paleontology and Stratigraphy, GEOLOGY 2061 Introduction to Geochemistry, GEOLOGY 3001 Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, GEOLOGY 3011 Remote Sensing and GIS, GEOLOGY 3021 Introduction to Hydrology, GEOLOGY 4082 Individual Study Program, GEOLOGY 4096 Structural Geology, GEOLOGY 4197 Environmental Semina, GEOLOGY 4200 Topics in Geoscience , GEOLOGY 4589 Field Geology.
