Course summary
This program is designed for those seeking certification as public school choral directors. Students must complete a minimum of four writing-intensive courses. At least two of these courses must be in the major field of study. At least two of the four courses must be at the 3000-4000 level. They must complete a minimum of two oral communication-intensive courses. At least one of these courses must be in the major field of study. They must also pass the information technology proficiency exam or successfully complete CSCI 1100 "Using Information Technology" during their first calendar year prior to accumulating 33 semester credit hours at ETSU. In addition, students must complete at least one information technology-intensive course in the major field of study.

Entry requirement for international students
Students under age 21 with no previous college credit either ACT or SAT scores are required. The scores of TOEFL are also required. East Tennessee State University requires a total score of 61 or better for undergraduate study. They should have minimum grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scales or minimum ACT composite score of 19 (or equivalent SAT score).
