Course summary
This program offers students a general course of music study in a liberal arts setting, providing students an overview of music theory, history, and performance practice. The program helps students acquire a broad and general understanding of music as a cultural/social phenomenon. Along with the courses required within the major, students must select a minor or second major appropriate to their academic goals.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed high school diploma or a GED. In addition, the individual has attempted fewer than 26 semester (39 quarter) credits at a post-secondary institution. If a student is graduating from high school and has less than 26 semester credits, she/he will be considered a new entering freshman, allowing the student to be considered for merit scholarships and participation in Academic Orientation. High school students should have completion of a minimum of the following courses: 4 years English, 3 years math (including a minimum of algebra, intermediate algebra, and geometry), 3 years science (1 year each of biological and physical science), 3 years social studies (including U.S. history) and 2 years single second language. Scores from either the ACT or SAT exams including writing is required. International students must have minimum TOEFL scores of 550 Written, 213 Computer, 80 Internet (iBT) or an IELTS score of 6.5.
