Course summary
Specialists in ecological systems engineering are concerned with the design, development, and management of eco-systems. Typical applications include the rehabilitation of disturbed ecosystems, the design of mitigation areas, the incorporation of ecologically sustainable features into land developments, and the design and management of publicly and privately owned landscapes. An understanding of ecology and the interaction of ecological communities, coupled with knowledge of engineering design and economics, are stressed in this specialization.

Entry requirement for international students
As an undergraduate, a student may apply for admission as a freshman or a transfer. To be considered for admission as a freshman, international students must have completed secondary school with a superior average in academic subjects and have earned a certificate of completion which enables the student to be admitted to a university in the home country. Students who have attended school under the British system must present 5 GCSE/Ordinary level examinations and at least 2 Advanced level examinations with superior grades. International applicants whose native language is other than English will be required to demonstrate their English proficiency. This is most often accomplished by achieving a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and On the TOEFL iBT minimum score of 80. Freshman applicants who graduated from high school in spring 2005 or earlier are required to have taken the SAT I: Reasoning Test (or ACT) and three SAT II: Subject Tests prior to high school graduation and a score of 7 on the IELTS.
