Course summary
This program is designed to enable the student, upon completion of the B.S. degree program, to enter the profession for example, in industry, on a construction project, in a consulting engineering office, through a government agency or to begin graduate study, or both. The program is fully accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and provides a broad traditional civil engineering background that focuses on basic theory and design. Technical electives can be selected to obtain a strong technical base in a particular field of civil engineering or other engineering disciplines.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must submit all academic records for the last four years of secondary school, all national examination results (such as "0" levels, "A" levels, baccalaureate, abitur, international baccalaureate, etc.), and a diploma showing proof of graduation, if available at the time of application. If students first language is not English or if they have received a bachelor's degree from a country where English is not the official language, they will be required to submit a current score of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 600 on paper-based test , 250 on computer based test and 100 on internet-based test is necessary for admission to Columbia. A minimum IELTS score of 7.0 is also required.
