Course summary
This program in urban planning prepares students as entry level professional who are planning careers in governmental agencies, land development, consulting businesses, community service organizations, community development corporations (CDCs), and private industry or for graduate study in urban and regional planning. The curriculum is designed to train students to acquire a broad liberal education that leads to an understanding of the natural and social environment and their problems; to combine an understanding of urban and rural development issues and problems to formulate programs for achieving public development objectives, and to provide the knowledge, skills and values required for professional planning practice.

Entry requirement for international students
Students must have earned a passing GED score. They should have all their official transcripts. They must have maintained a grade point average of “C” in core courses; they must have earned five passes on a national or a local examination; and must have attained a minimum score of 500 in TOEFL. Students who are 26 years or elder are exempt from college entrance examinations. They must have a score of 18 either in ACT or equivalent in SAT which should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions, Alabama A and M University.
