Course summary
This program provides a foundation for careers in environment-related businesses or organizations working in environmental fields. Graduates with the background in science that is provided by the undergraduate portion of this program are qualified to apply later for certification as registered environmental professionals, or to pursue graduate education in the environmental sciences.
Program modules
The modules include ESP 390 Integrative Environmental Seminar, ESP 391 Independent Environmental Research, ESP 395 Environmental Internship, UNIV 350 Solutions to Environmental Problems, ESP 399 Directed Readings. In addition to the common environmental courses, requirements to complete this major include 41 undergraduate credit hours of coursework in biology, chemistry, physics and natural sciences; and 4 electives within the major, at least 2 of which must be science based.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed high school preparatory curriculum with four years of English (required); three to four years of math; three years of social science; two or more years of foreign language; three to four years of natural or physical science (with lab). Also applicants whose first or native language is not English must demonstrate their proficiency with a minimum of 79 on the TOEFL exam or a 6.5 on the IELTS, 550 on the written test or 213 on the computer-based test.
