Course summary
The educational objectives of the Geophysical Engineering Program are a direct outgrowth of the mission and goals of Colorado School of Mines. The Geophysical Engineering program is dedicated to educating students and professionals in applied geophysical science and engineering who will apply themselves in the discovery and recovery of the Earth’s resources, their conversion to materials and energy, their utilization in advanced processes and products, and the economic and social systems necessary to ensure their prudent a provident use in a sustainable global society.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have taken 4 units of English, 2 units of algebra, 1 unit of geometry, 1 unit of advanced, Mathematics (trigonometry), 3 units of history or social studies, 3 units of lab science (1 unit must be chemistry or physics), 2 units of academic electives. Trigonometry is the minimum math requirement; however, students should complete pre-calculus or calculus if they have the opportunity to do so. Students should rank in the upper one-third of their high school class and have strong ACT or SAT scores. SAT with writing or the ACT with or without the optional writing test is accepted. Average GPA 3.7/4.0, Average SAT (Critical Reading and Math) 1260, Average ACT Composite 28 is required.
