Course summary
This Program is a balance of interdisciplinary and disciplinary courses in which the aims are to provide students with a sound foundation in mathematical studies, instill an awareness of the utility of mathematics, statistics, and computer science, develop competency in the use of modern mathematical tools, and nurture in students an awareness that the growth of mathematics is a social necessity - one in which they can readily participate.

The modules include CMPSC 121 Object-Oriented Programming for Mathematics and Sciences I, MATH 312 Real Analysis, MATH 315 Foundations of Mathematics, MATH 427 Foundations of Geometry, MATH 430 Linear Algebra and Discrete Models I, MATH 435 Abstract Algebra, MATH 475W Introduction to the History of Mathematics (US, IL), STAT 301 Statistical Analysis I, EDUC 313 Field Observation (2 credits), EDUC 314 Learning Theory and Instructional Procedures, EDUC 315 Social and Cultural Factors in Education, EDUC 417 Teaching Secondary Math, EDUC 490‡ Student Teaching (12 credits)
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have academic records with transcripts, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 on the academic test or minimum TOEFL score of 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL, 213 on the computer-based exam, or 550 on the paper exam, 530 or higher on the critical reading or writing section in SAT, IB score of 5 or higher on the English language exam. They also must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (4.0 scale).
