The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position in experimental astroparticle physics at the rank of assistant professor. The appointment will begin 16 August 2008. Related research groups at UA are interested in theoretical particle physics, experimental particle physics and theoretical astrophysics. The department intends to establish a theoretical astroparticle physics program in the near future. The minimum qualifications for this position are a Ph.D. or equivalent, postdoctoral experience, scholarly publications, and experience with modern techniques in astroparticle physics. Candidates for this position are expected to have an outstanding research record and exhibit potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate is expected to develop a high quality, externally funded research program in experimental astroparticle physics, as well as teach and mentor at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Residents of campus housing have access to many resources, including various services and facilities located in and near the residence halls. These include access to: Resnet, Computer Labs, Telecom and Bama Dining locations. Residence Hall Association Bryce Lawn is an upperclassmen apartment community located on Bryce Lawn Drive between Campus and University. Each apartment features three single bedrooms. Each bedroom is furnished with a twin bed, desk, and dresser. The three residents share one full bathroom and a half bath that contains a sink and shower. The living room is furnished with a sofa and chair. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, electric stove, dishwasher, washer, dryer, and kitchen table with chairs. The Highlands feature furnished apartments with four students sharing a living/dining room area, kitchen, 3 bathrooms (with 1 shower, 1 bathtub/shower, 2 toilets and 3 sinks) and three bedrooms. The large bedroom is a double bedroom and the two smaller bedrooms are singles. The layout of handicapped-accessible apartments varies in the lakeside residence halls Each private room is furnished with a 3 drawer chest, a split pedestal desk, an upholstered two- position desk chair, and a junior loft bed.
