Course summary
This program provides career-oriented education for students interested in law, the the social forces producing delinquency and crime, in the evaluation of social planning for crime prevention and control, and in the operation of police organizations and correctional institutions.

The modules include SOC 100 Introduction to Sociology, SOC 202 Research Methods, SOC 203 Social Statustics with Computer Applications, SOC 400 Sociological Theory, PHL 319 Philosophy of Law, PHL 321 Political Philosophy, PS 241 Law and Politics, PS340 US Constitutional Law, PS 341 Civil Rights/Civil Liberties, PS 342 Judicial Process.
Entry requirement for international students
Candidates for admission to undergraduate degree programs should have completed high school-level college preparatory work or otherwise demonstrate sufficient academic preparation to begin college work. Normally, high school courses should include, as a minimum, four years of English, three years of mathematics, three years of natural sciences, three years of social sciences and two years of a foreign language. Consideration for admission is based upon an applicant’s academic background, including high school academic achievement, educational goals and potential for success at Oakland University. Students applying as freshmen must submit scores from the American College Test (ACT). Students should have a TOEFL score of 550 minimum on paper-based, 213 minimum on computer-based and 79 minimum on internet-based. The minimum MELAB score of 77 is required.
