Course summary
This degree curriculum offers a platform for the study of theatre within the framework of a broad-based, liberal arts curriculum. Students gain an understanding of fundamentals, as well as a fuller intellectual grasp of the performing arts. Small class sizes allow more interaction and personal feedback from theatre faculty.
Program modules
The modules include THA 110 Acting: The Instrument, THA 111 Acting: The Script, THA 120 or 121 Stagecraft or Costume Craft, THA 124 Elements of Design, THA 301 Theatre History I, THA 302 Theatre History II, THA 330 Stage Management.
Entry requirement for international students
Candidates for admission to undergraduate degree programs should have completed high school-level college preparatory work or otherwise demonstrate sufficient academic preparation to begin college work. Normally, high school courses should include, as a minimum, four years of English, three years of mathematics, three years of natural sciences, three years of social sciences and two years of a foreign language. Consideration for admission is based upon an applicant’s academic background, including high school academic achievement, educational goals and potential for success at Oakland University. Students applying as freshmen must submit scores from the American College Test (ACT). Students should have a TOEFL score of 550 minimum on paper-based, 213 minimum on computer-based and 79 minimum on internet-based. The minimum MELAB score of 77 is required.
