Course summary
This program allows greater flexibility in the sequencing and selection of courses towards the major. It also provides the opportunity for students who wish to concentrate in one or two of the subfields (archaeology, biological anthropology, linguistic anthropology, sociocultural anthropology) to pursue a more focused major. Selection of courses must be done in close consultation with the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
Program modules
The course are: 28 credits in anthropology at the 100-200 level, four credits of which must be a sociocultural area course; 28 credits at the 300-400 level, of which 20 credits must be taken in Anthropology and 8 credits may be taken in related disciplines. For students concentrating in one of the subfields, a minimum of three courses in the chosen subfield should be included. for archaeology concentration: ANTH 167 or 169; for biological anthropology concentration: ANTH 168; for linguistic anthropology concentration: ANTH 114 or 118; for sociocultural anthropology concentration: ANTH 166.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should be a high school graduate. They must have SAT or ACT scores. Non native English speakers must have TOEFL or IELTS or SAT I Verbal scores. The minimum TOEFL scores are: Paper-based: 550; Computer-based: 213; Internet-based: 80. IELTS score is: 6.5, with no individual bands below 5.0; SAT I Verbal minimum score of 500.
