Course summary
In this program students develop an accurate understanding of the past to project a valid prologue for the future. Students learn to examine works of art in a broad social context and with regard to cultural values as well as perfect their writing skills and ability to think critically. The program provides a broad perspective that prepares students to enter graduate school in art history or seek certain types of employment related to the field. Career opportunities are varied and include teaching at the college or high school level or working in an art museum as curator, research assistant, or perhaps in a museum's education department. Graduates also exhibit and sell works by current artists in art galleries. Others who have related interests such as in architecture may choose to enter the field of historic preservation or in writing, the field of journalism.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed minimum high school curriculum such as six semesters of mathematics and social studies, four to six semesters of laboratory science, four semesters of foreign language and eight semesters of English. They must have an overall grade point average in all academic coursework. They should possess SAT score of 480 or higher on the Critical Reading section and ACT score of 20 or higher on the English section. International students whose native language is not in English should have the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 550 on paper based exam, 213 on computer based exam, 79 on internet based exam and IELTS score of 6.5 or higher is required for admission.
