Course summary

This program takes the Art History Survey I and II (ARTH 2819 and 2820), ideally in chronological sequence. At least one course in non-western art (Native American art, Asian art, Pre-Columbian art) and one in a period of art from before the year 1600 (Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance). Majors also take three classes of their choice in studio art, for a total of 59-60 hours. Students pursuing the B.A. degree must complete either a minor or a second major.

Program modules

The program modules are as follows: 48 credits in Art History: Survey I, Survey II, one Non-Western Art History class, one Pre-17th Century Art History class, plus eight more Art History classes and 12 credits in Studio Art.

Entry requirement for international students

Students should have a minimum TOEFL score of 525 for PBT, 70 for IBT, or a 6.0 on the IELTS, with no less than 5.5 on any individual band scores. Students who have completed, or will complete, a U.S.-style secondary/high school program, who have completed, or will complete, a Canadian-style secondary/high school program, either in Canada or overseas, students wishing to be considered for athletic scholarship and wishing to be considered for merit-based scholarships are strongly encouraged to have SAT or ACT results. Students who have met the English proficiency requirements are strongly encouraged to attend an interview.
