Course summary
In this program students must successfully complete 120 hours to graduate, with 42 hours from the University’s core curriculum and 45 in the major. Twenty-seven hours of upper-level electives allow students to round out their degree plan by choosing the remaining elective courses from arts and technology or emerging Media and Communication, or choosing to do more advanced study in the arts, history or literature. Students may be certified to teach history and/or social studies and/or English through the UT Dallas Teacher Development Center. Graduates with a BA in arts and humanities enter the workforce with a broad knowledge of art genres, history and literature. They also are properly equipped to follow their educational ambitions into postgraduate education in any of a variety of graduate and professional schools. Students who complete the major in arts and humanities are familiar with the relationships among the liberal disciplines which comprise literary and historical studies and the visual and performing arts.
