Course summary

The five-year program leading to a BA in chemistry and an MAT in teaching efficiently combines an undergraduate degree in chemistry with a graduate-level teacher certification program. Students should declare their interest in this option as soon as possible to ensure proper undergraduate course selection. Students should apply for the combined program no later than the beginning of their junior year. Admission decisions for the combined program will be made no later than spring of the student's junior year. Application and admissions processes are through the MAT program and the Graduate School. Admissions decisions for the combined program will be based on course grades (GPA 3.0 or better), chemistry faculty recommendations, an interview by MAT program faculty, GRE scores (if taken), and a personal narrative essay of approximately 1,000 words. For more information about the five-year combined BA/MAT program, please see the chemistry department undergraduate program director.
