Course summary
This program creates an environment for students to explore, define, and develop their potential. Students learn to think critically and independently as the program provides a basic understanding of technical processes as a means for students to realize their ideas. This multifaceted program combines selected readings of criticism and theory, collective and individual critique, and interaction with faculty and visiting artists, curators, and theorists. Coursework emphasizes technical skills as well as essential concepts within the sculpture tradition. Students are encouraged to identify and intensify investigations into an area of personal interest. The curriculum progresses sequentially and culminates in a project where students can express ability, initiative, and direction. Sculpture is a three-dimensional art form that allows the artist to investigate their changing perceptions.
