Studio Art is an academic discipline that embraces both visual communication and the aesthetic expression of an intellectual vision.
Program modules
The modules include SA100 Foundations of Visual Literacy, SA102 Foundations of Studio Art, SA104 Foundations of Media Art, SA106 Beginning Drawing, SA200 Critical Theory and Practice in Art, SA300 Professional Practices and Portfolio Design, SA491 Senior Thesis in Studio Art.
Entry requirement for international students
Candidates for admission to undergraduate degree programs should have completed high school-level college preparatory work or otherwise demonstrate sufficient academic preparation to begin college work. Normally, high school courses should include, as a minimum, four years of English, three years of mathematics, three years of natural sciences, three years of social sciences and two years of a foreign language. Consideration for admission is based upon an applicant’s academic background, including high school academic achievement, educational goals and potential for success at Oakland University. Students applying as freshmen must submit scores from the American College Test (ACT). Students should have a TOEFL score of 550 minimum on paper-based, 213 minimum on computer-based and 79 minimum on internet-based. The minimum MELAB score of 77 is required.
