Course summary
This program majors are required to maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 for graduation. No theatre major coursework with a grade below a C will count towards the major degree completion requirements. Admission to the advanced (400-level) acting, directing and design courses is by permission from the faculty through evaluation of prior course and production work and, when appropriate, by audition or interview. This determination will be made each semester and students must apply for admission to these courses in the semester prior to entering the course. Exceptions may be made for incoming transfer students.

The courses are: THEA 10X-5 Theatre Activity (3 different areas), THEA 110-3 Fundamentals of Acting (Acting for Everyone), THEA 235-3 Fundamentals of Directing, THEA 281-3 Play Analysis, THEA 481-3 Theatre History I, THEA 482-3 Theatre History II THEA 121-1 Movement for Theatre THEA 210-3 Intermediate Acting, THEA 211-3 Musical Theatre Acting I THEA 22X-2 , Intermediate Dance Options THEA 240-3 Basic Design, THEA 265-2 Stage Makeup THEA 2XX-3 Technology Options, THEA 285-3 Theatre of Diversity, Choose 12 credits from the following: THEA 41X-3 Acting Options, THEA 4XX-3 Design Options, THEA 430-3 Theatre Management, THEA 435-3 Advanced Directing, THEA 483-3 Musical Theatre History.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should be graduates of accredited high schools and must have TOEFL with a score of 500 or better on the paper and pencil exam or 173 or better on the computer based exam or 61 or better on the web-based exam; or completion of Level 109 at an English Language School (ELS); or A minimum score of 80 on the Michigan Test of English Proficiency (MELAB); or a score of 5.5 or better on the IELTS.
